Dinner’s done and the only thing more stuffed than the bird is you. Now the question becomes: What to do with all those leftovers? While many say simple reheating is all that’s necessary to have a “day after” feast, others have elaborate recipes for turning Thanksgiving leftovers into gourmet delights. From savory turkey soups to sinfully delicious pot pies and mile-high sandwiches, everyone has their own ideas on what to do with what’s leftover. The Food Network even has an entire recipe collection dedicated to the topic. A Thankful Heart

What my kids have taught me about gratitude.

  It's that time of year again where I reflect on all the things that I am grateful for. Being a parent has helped me to not take things for granted and to appreciate many simple moments in life. Here is a list of the top 10 things that I've learned to be thankful for since I became a mother. 1. The value of a good night's sleep. Seriously, I had never known true exhaustion until I became a parent. Now that my children sleep soundly through the night, I thank my lucky stars for 8 hours of uninterrupted bliss. Without it, I turn into a crazy person. 2. A closed bathroom door. It's rare that I spend time powdering my nose without a child following me in there. Thanksgiving Hours for County Offices, Trash Pickup

The holiday means some trash collection will be pushed back and county offices are closed.

Essentially all Gwinnett County offices will be closed on Thursday, November 22nd and on Friday, November 23rd, in observance of Thanksgiving. Only those necessary for the comfort and safety of residents will be open. A Magistrate Court judge will be available on those days at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. Trash and recycling pickups will be postponed for the holiday as well. Pickups scheduled for Thursday will take place Friday, and Fridays pickups will happen on Saturday. County offices and trash pickup will return to regular hours on Monday, November 26th.

A home that was once quiet right around 10:00am is now filled with laughter, crying, fighting and repetitive questions like, “What are we going to do today?” and  “Can I go over to Mark’s house?” In order to maintain some form of sanity this week here are a few things that you should do to survive Thanksgiving break. Have A Plan Let’s be real, no one wants to stay home for an entire week. Holiday Cooking Tips from Gwinnett Fire

As family and friends make preparations for the busy Thanksgiving holiday, firefighters are reminding all chefs and would-be chefs to be safe when cooking. Unsafe cooking practices are the leading cause of residential fires, officials said. Here are some tips offered by Fire and Emergency Services and the National Fire Protection Association: VERY IMPORTANT: If you plan to deep-fry your holiday turkey, chicken, duck, or anything else, remember to follow proper fire safety precautions. read all instructions for your fryer and completely thaw your meat before frying it. What Time Will Sugarloaf Mills Open on Black Friday?

The Lawrenceville, Ga. mall, formerly Discover Mills, is letting shoppers have 22 hours to cross as many items off their Christmas lists as they can.

Sugarloaf Mills in Lawrenceville, Ga. is ready for the holiday shopping season. They will open their doors to shoppers on Thanksgiving night at 11:30pm, so customers can get in place for when stores open at midnight. The mall, formerly called Discover Mills, will be open for shopping for 22 hours on Black Friday. It will be open midnight Friday until 10pm. Then re-open Saturday, November 24th at 9am and close at 10pm. On Sunday, the mall's hours are 11am until 7pm.
