Lawrenceville Patch has obtained new details regarding Tuesday's three car crash on Highway 316 in the middle of rush hour. In a phone call to Patch, Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Jake Smith, said a minivan with five children slammed into a car stopped in traffic near the Sugarloaf Parkway exit. The car that was hit then crashed into the car in front of it. Smith identified the driver of that minivan as 32 year old Angela Gamboa of Lawrenceville. Police say none of the children in Gamboa's vehicle were properly restrained. Two of them were injured and taken by helicopter to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. A child in the middle car was taken to a hospital in Atlanta by ambulance. A three-car crash at Hwy 316 and Sugarloaf Pkwy has sent at least two people to the hospital by helicopter. At least one of those victims is a child. Gwinnett County Police said the accident happened Tuesday at about 4pm, just ahead of rush hour traffic. There is no word yet on a cause or conditions of others involved. A 25 year old man was struck and killed on Sugarloaf Parkway late Tuesday evening, according to Gwinnett County Police Department. Investigators say Thiagos Campos of Suwanee was trying to cross Sugarloaf Parkway near highway 316 outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a pickup truck. The driver was headed west toward 316 and did not stop after allegedly hitting Campos and left the scene. Based on debris left at the scene, investigators believe the vehicle involved in the hit and run is a late model Dodge Ram with damage to the front passenger side.
