Peter "P.K." Martin IV defeated Rex Millsaps in Tuesday's runoff race.
One month after Election Day, Peter "P.K." Martin has learned he will get to keep his seat on Lawrenceville's City Council. Martin defeated former Lawrenceville mayor Rex Millsaps in a runoff election on Tuesday. The unofficial results show Martin bested Millsaps 570 to 497. It was a high turnout since City Clerk Karen Pierce told Lawrenceville Patch on Monday that she was expecting about 300 to 600 voters. In November, Millsaps finished with 656 votes and Martin with 616. Third candidate Renita Hamilton received 312 votes. The City of Lawrenceville will begin the official count of votes at 9:30am at City Hall.

Peter "P.K." Martin IV wins in a runoff race.
City Councilman Peter "P.K." Martin will keep his seat on the Lawrenceville City Council after defeating Rex Millsaps in a runoff election Tuesday. Here are the unofficial numbers as reported to Lawrenceville Patch by City Clerk Karen Pierce: Peter "P.K." Martin IV - 570 Rex Millsaps - 497 The official counting of votes will begin Wednesday morning at 9:30am. Lawrenceville Patch will have more on this story in the morning.
After an election that was too close to call, voters will decide today whether P.K. Martin or Rex Millsaps will fill the final City Council seat.
The polls will be open once again in the City of Lawrenceville. Residents within the city limits will decide today who will fill the final seat on the City Council. Will it be incumbent Peter "P.K." Voters will decide whether Peter "P.K." Martin IV or Rex Millsaps will fill the final City Council seat.
The votes were too close to call on Election Day in the race for City Council Post 4. So residents in the City of Lawrenceville will head back to the polls Tuesday to decide whether current Councilman Peter "P.K." Martin IV will keep his seat or if former mayor Rex Millsaps will return to city government. On November 8, Millsaps led the voting with 656 votes while Martin had 616. The numbers were too close to declare an outright winner. Political newcomer Renita Hamilton was also on the ballot. She finished with 312 votes. A runoff will be held for the Post 4 seat between Peter "P.K." Martin and Rex Millsaps.
Voters in the City of Lawrenceville will have to go to the polls one more time. The race for City Council Post 4 was too close to call. According to the unofficial results from Tuesdays election, former Lawrenceville mayor Rex Millsaps received 656 votes while the incumbent Peter "P.K." Martin IV got 616. Renita Hamilton finished third with 312 votes. Karen Pierce, Election Superintendent and City Clerk said the runoff election between Martin and Millsaps will be held Tuesday, December 6th. Two City Council seats and Sunday Alcohol Sales appear on the ballot.
Starting at 8am Monday, residents of the City of Lawrenceville will be able to cast their votes in the 2011 election. Voters will choose a new City Council member for Post 3 as Katie Hart Smith has decided not to run for re-election. The three candidates vying for Smith's seat are Bob Clark, Eric Reid and Brad Sullivan. Peter "P.K." Martin IV is looking to retain his position as Post 4 City Councilman, however Renita Hamilton and Rex Millsaps are both hoping to unseat him.
