Popular Frozen Pizza Brands Recalled

Nestlé USA voluntarily recalled four different frozen pizzas because the pizza may contain fragments of clear plastic, the company announced Friday. 

Nestlé USA has voluntarily recalled four different frozen pizzas sold in the United States because the pizza may contain fragments of clear plastic, the company announced on Friday.  The recall includes: The company said in a release that it made the recall because some people had found small fragments of plastic on the CPK Crispy Thin Crust White pizza, which it said was related to a lot of spinach received from a supplier. While the company received no complaints to date on the other three varieties that used the spinach, it recalled the additional varieties out of caution. Publix Issues Voluntary Recall on Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad

The products could be infected with Listeria monocytogenes.

Publix Super Markets has issued a voluntary recall for Publix Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad since it may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. The company was notified of the potential contamination from their supplier, Allison's Gourmet Kitchens, according to a press release on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website. Publix Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad, UPC # 41415-39662, was distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. Product was sold in pre-packaged 12 ounce containers, and this recall involves all product sold from December 2012 through March 26, 2013. Recall Issued on Pork Sausage Products

The products were distributed in Georgia and surrounding states and may contain small pieces of plastic, likely from gloves.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service has announced a product recall due to the possible presence of small pieces of plastic, likely from gloves.  Smithfield Packing Company of Virginia is recalling approximately 38,000 pounds of pork sausage that may contain small pieces of plastic, likely from gloves.  The following products are subject to recall: Click here to view the product label. Kroger Recalls King Cake

The cinnamon flavored cake has been recalled in four states, including Georgia, due to nuts which may not be listed in the ingredients.

Kroger grocery stores have issued a recall of a bakery item in the middle of the carnival season. They are recalling their Bakery Mardi Gras King Cake Cinnamon because it may contain pecans not listed on the label.  The cake was sold in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and eastern Tennessee. It has a sell by date of February 7, 2013 and the UPC code 4157327767. If you purchased the cake between December 30, 2012 and February 4, 2013, you can take it back to your local Kroger for a full refund or replacement.  Kroger has removed the product from their store shelves.  Customers with questions can call Kroger toll-free at 800-KROGERS (800-576-4377) or visit www.kroger.com/recalls.

Publix Recalls Dog Treats

Four products are being recalled by the supermarket chain due to "regulatory inconsistencies" with the Chinese-made treats.

Publix has issued voluntary recalls of four separate Chinese-made dog treat products it sells in its stores. Beginning on Jan. 9, the chain issued recalls for Waggin' Train Dog Treats and Milo's Kitchen Dog Treats. Two days later, more recalls were issued for Publix Chicken Tenders Dog Chew Treats and Cadet Brand Chicken Jerky Treat. “As part of our commitment to food safety, including that of our four-legged family members, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director in a press release. No illnesses have been tied to three of the four products, but Publix customers can return all of these treats and receive a full refund of the purchase price. The …

Peanut Butter Recall Expanded to Include Target Brand

A type of Archer Farms peanut butter and almond butter were added to a list of products possibly tainted with Salmonella.

A voluntary recall of peanut butter has been expanded to include a brand sold at Target stores. Earlier this month, Sunland, Inc. issued a recall of Trader Joe's Valencia Peanut Butter after concerns it may be contaminated with Salmonella. Sunland also makes products for Archer Farms, a label sold exclusively at Target. Sunland is now recalling 16 ounce jars of Archer Farms' Creamy Almond Butter and Peanut Butter with Flax Seeds along with a number of other products, many of which are available for sale online. The possibly contaminated products were manufactured between May 1, 2012 and September 24, 2012. The containers will have a Best If Used By Date between May 1, 2013 and September 24, 2013. RaceTrac Severs Ties with Lawrenceville Food Manufacturer Related to Recall

A spokesman for RaceTrac says the possibly contaminated food never made it to their stores.

On Saturday, Flying Food Group voluntarily recalled a number of their products. Shortly after our publication of the story, Patch received the following statement from a spokesman from RaceTrac, which carried Flying Food Groups items prior to the recall: “RaceTrac considers the safety of our guests and in-store team members to be extremely important. We preemptively removed all products prepared and provided by Flying Food Group from our 65 Georgia stores on November 26 after our independent testing revealed a potential food safety issue at the supplier’s Lawrenceville facility. RaceTrac Responds to Food Recall

The gas station and convenience store chain said they removed items from their stores prior to Flying Food Group's recall.

RaceTrac Petroleum released the following statement in response to the voluntary product recall issued Thursday by Georgia–based supplier, Flying Food Group:  “RaceTrac considers the safety of our guests and in-store team members of paramount importance. On July 25, 2011, prior to any official announcement, we learned of a pending voluntary product recall of USDA/FDA-regulated food distributed in Georgia by one of our food suppliers, Flying Food Group. As a proactive measure to protect the best interest of our guests, RaceTrac preemptively removed all products prepared and provided by Flying Food Group from our 65 Georgia stores on July 25.
