On Saturday, Flying Food Group voluntarily recalled a number of their products. Shortly after our publication of the story, Patch received the following statement from a spokesman from RaceTrac, which carried Flying Food Groups items prior to the recall: “RaceTrac considers the safety of our guests and in-store team members to be extremely important. We preemptively removed all products prepared and provided by Flying Food Group from our 65 Georgia stores on November 26 after our independent testing revealed a potential food safety issue at the supplier’s Lawrenceville facility. The food manufacturer has issued a recall of items sold at RaceTrac due to a possible Listeria contamination.

Flying Food Group has issued a recall of some of its products sold at RaceTrac stores across the state of Georgia. According to the Associated Press, the Lawrenceville based food manufacturer announced the recall Saturday and said the potentially deadly bacteria Listeria could be items produced by its plant. No illnesses related to the recall have been reported. Production at the plant has been suspended until an investigation can be completed. The items recalled all have an expiration date of November 30, 2011. They include: the Chicken Quarter Pounder, the Chicken Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes, the Ham Quarter Pounder, the Ham Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes and the American Sub. More food recalls have been issued by a Lawrenceville manufacturer. Earlier this month, Flying Food Group recalled sandwiches which were sold at Starbucks throughout the county. Today the Food and Drug Administration announced an additional recall of some 40 items including sandwiches, parfaits and salads because they potentially could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. There have been no reported illnesses related to this issue. The products were made for Starbucks, RaceTrac and Core-mark Atlanta and distributed in Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
