Oakland Road Back Open to Traffic

The road was shut down last month for emergency repairs and re-opened ahead of schedule.

Oakland Road in Lawrenceville is now open to traffic. The Gwinnett Department of Transportation re-opened the stretch from Cruse Road to US 29/Lawrenceville Highway Wednesday morning, five days ahead of schedule. The roadway was closed on January 28th after erosion was found on the end of a pipe during a routine inspection. "When county crews responded to complete the work [on January 28th] it was discovered that the situation had worsened and that the erosion had now extended up under the road itself," said Steve Leo, Director Stormwater Management Division in an email to Patch.
