'America's Most Wanted' to Feature Lawrenceville Cold Case

The unsolved murder of Kay Wenal from 2008 will be featured on the Lifetime channel show Friday evening.

Who killed Eva "Kay" Wenal? Gwinnett County Police Detectives have been trying to figure that out since she was murdered in 2008. And now they hope to get leads from a national television show. "America's Most Wanted" will feature this cold case on their show Friday, August 24th at 9pm on Lifetime. It will air during an episode called “The Bold, The Bad and The Brazen.” Wenal was murdered at her home on Sugar Lake Court, in unincorporated Lawrenceville on May 1, 2008. Her husband Harold “Hal” Wenal found his wife's body. Mr. Wenal was ruled out as a suspect before he died of natural causes in 2010. GCPD Investigating Murder-Suicide

The victims are believed to be a divorced couple still sharing a home in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Ga.

On Saturday morning, Gwinnett County Police responded to a call about a domestic dispute at a home in unincorporated Lawrenceville. When they arrived at 211 Ashland Creek Court, officers found a male and a female with gunshot wounds. Both were dead by the time GCPD came in. Investigators say it appears to be a murder-suicide. The man was aged 50 and the woman 37. It is believed the two were a divorced couple still sharing the same house. The couple's children, ages 10, 15 and 17, were home at the time of the crime. Detectives are attempting to notify family members before releasing the victims' names.

Accused Child Murderer Arrested in Mexico

Christian Vasquez was wanted for the 2007 murder of a 3 year old girl in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Ga.

A man accused of murdering a Lawrenceville child more than five years ago, has been arrested in Mexico according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.  A joint investigation by Mexican authorities, The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office, The Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Department of Justice led to the arrest of Christian Vasquez. On June 21, 2008, arrest warrants for Vasquez were obtained, charging him with the murder of a 3 year old girl at a home on Stillwater Lane in unincorporated Lawrenceville. UPDATE: Woman Arrested for Murder

Police confirm the man killed in unincorporated Lawrenceville was the woman's husband.

Gwinnett County Police have provided new details in a weekend murder in unincorporated Lawrenceville.  Police have arrested 63 year old Hannah M. Chung with Murder and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a crime. Gwinnett EMS was called to Chung's home on 1528 Park Grove Drive on Sunday, July 22nd just after 11pm to respond to a possible cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, they found 64 year old Young G. Chung dead from a gunshot wound to the head.  Police have now said that Hannah was Young's wife. Investigators developed probable cause and arrested and charged Mrs. Chung with Murder and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a crime. She is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

Lawrenceville Woman Arrested for Murder

Police responded to a possible cardiac arrest and later arrested a woman for the murder of a man.

Early in the morning on Saturday July 21st, Gwinnett County Police were called to a home on the 1500 block of Park Grove in unincorporated Lawrenceville. They were called to the home just before 4am. Officers thought they were going there to investigate a death from cardiac arrest, however, they later arrested 63 year old Hannah Myling Chung. When officers arrived to the home, they were told by a Gwinnett paramedic that the victim, 63 year old Young Chung, was dead and that he had a small gunshot wound to the back of his head. Two other adults were at the home with Hannah at the time of Young's death. There's no report on their relationships to the victim or their involvement, if any, with the crime. Police Arrest Third Man in 2011 Murder

Robert Lashaugh Hodge was the third man charged in connection to the murder of Jose De Manuel Alfaro in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett County Police have arrested a third suspect in connection to the November 2011 murder of 18-year-old Jose De Manuel Alfaro in unincorporated Lawrenceville. Robert Lashaugh Hodge, of 577 Summerville Dr, was arrested and charged with murder. He was booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center early Thursday morning where he is currently being held.  Two days after Alfaro's killing, Brandon Prasad turned himself in to authorities. He was the first suspect sought by police. A few days later, Rodrigo Serna was arrested.

Triple Murder Suspect Arrested in Kentucky

James Lanier, a third suspect in February's triple homicide in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Ga. was arrested Tuesday.

  A third man wanted in the murders of three men in unincorporated Lawrenceville has been arrested in Kentucky. Maysville Online reports James H. Lanier, 33, was arrested there late Tuesday evening.  Officer T.C. Rice of the Maysville Police Department told the website that the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office contacted them to let them know Lanier could be in the area. The suspect is from Georgia but reportedly has a girlfriend who lives in Maysville, Ky. Lanier was indicted last week as the third man in a drug deal gone wrong. Ernest Huff of Lawrenceville, and Theron Green of Auburn were also indicted on counts of murder, felony, aggravated assault and weapons and drug charges. Police Charge Husband in Wife's Murder

Alex Blatt, 70, was arrested on Friday.

Gwinnett County Police arrested Alex Blatt Friday and charged him with the murder of his wife Eva Blatt. The 70 year old Blatt was taken into custody after being released from Gwinnett Medical Center. Blatt was at the hospital recovering from injuries suffered during the murder/suicide attempt. Police say he strangled his 62 year old wife at their home at 2674 Summerfield Way last week. According to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's website, Blatt is still being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

Police Release Names in Murder/Suicide Attempt

GCPD found the husband and wife in a home in unincorporated Lawrenceville Monday afternoon.

  Gwinnett County Police have released the name of the woman who was found dead in her home in unincorporated Lawrenceville Monday afternoon. She is identified as 62 year old Eva Blatt. The woman was killed at her home at 2674 Summerfield Way in an apparent murder/suicide attempt. The victim's husband, 70 year old Alex Blatt was also found at the home in need of serious attention. He is still undergoing treatment at Gwinnett Medical Center. At last check, he was listed in critical condition. In an email to Lawrenceville Patch, GCPD Cpl. Edwin Ritter said the husband "has not been charged with anything at this time." However Ritter noted that may change if Mr. Blatt's condition changes.

GCPD Investigating Murder/Suicide Attempt

Police found the body of an elderly woman in a Summerfield Way home.

  Gwinnett County Police are investigating what appears to be a murder/suicide attempt. According to GCPD Cpl. Edwin Ritter, police were called to 2674 Summerfield Way in unincorporated Lawrenceville at around 4:30pm for a welfare check. Inside the home they found the body of a woman in her mid to late 60's was found inside a home at Police also found a man in his early 70's who was in need of immediate help. He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition. The cause of death of the woman is not yet known. The identities of the two has not yet been released as police are still trying to notify next of kin.
