The Gwinnett County DOT says there are delays from Lawrenceville to the Mall of Georgia.
The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation is reporting significant traffic delays on SR 20/Buford Drive going from Lawrenceville to the area surrounding the Mall of Georgia. "Engineers are monitoring the situation in our Traffic Control Center and making signal timing changes," said a DOT representative in a release. "But the volumes are such that the effectiveness of these changes is limited." No word on a cause, however crowds are expected for holiday travel and last minute Christmas shopping. Gwinnett County Police say 22 year old Michael Thomas Clark was an acquaintance of the victim.
On Wednesday evening, Gwinnett County Police were called to 1869 Appaloosa Lane in Buford for a call of shots fired. When they arrived, they found the body of 19 year old Trevon Watson of Buford. Police say a small amount of marijuana was found near the victims body. GCPD announced on Thursday morning that they now have a suspect in custody, and say he was friendly with the victim. Michael Thomas Clark, 22, of Lawrenceville was arrested later Wednesday night. Clark charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Clark is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

Simon Property Group has shed its interest in the struggling Duluth facility. Could Discover Mills be next?
The nation's largest owner of retail shopping malls has given up on Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, according to a published report. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that Simon Property Group, which also owns Discover Mills Mall in Lawrenceville and the Mall of Georgia in Buford, has "disposed of (its) interest in" the mall, which is now only 83 percent occupied. Previously, Simon had transferred a $115 million loan on the mall to a special servicer, though the AJC reported that the special servicer is not the new owner. Also, Simon will continue to manage the mall “for the foreseeable future,” a company spokesperson said. The former Disney star will be in Gwinnett for a meet-and-greet to promote her newest movie.
The star of the Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place Selena Gomez will be making a public appearance this afternoon at the Mall of Georgia in Buford. Monte Carlo, in theaters July 1.
