FBI Offers Tips for Safe Cyber Monday Shopping

Before entering your credit card number online, take these steps to avoid becoming the victim of cyber crime.

Just when you've had time to recover from Black Friday, it's Cyber Monday -- a day for shopping from the comfort of your home on Duluth. While avoiding crowds and getting great bargains is enjoyable, Cyber Monday can be full of hazards for those shoppers who fail to take the proper precautions. Just what is Small Business Saturday and why should you support it in Lawrenceville?

Big name national retailers take the spotlight on Black Friday as their deep price cuts pull in shoppers in droves. What about those mom-and-pop businesses all over Lawrenceville and beyond that are the backbone of America’s economy? Just when do they get their day? That’s basically the question that was asked back in 2010 when the concept of Small Business Saturday was born. GCPD Stepping Up Presence While You're Shopping for Presents

The Gwinnett County Holiday Task Force will be keeping a watchful eye at local malls and shopping center from Black Friday through New Year's Eve.

While you're out hunting for bargains, criminals may be hunting for their next victim. Because of this, the Gwinnett County Police is launching their annual Holiday Task Force.  Additional officers at malls and shopping plazas throughout Gwinnett County starting Thanksgiving evening. The Task Force will be out on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through New Year's Eve. GCPD hopes the greater presence will prevent crime against holiday shoppers. These crimes include robberies, entering autos, financial fraud and DUIs. GCPD is offering these tips to help keep you safe while you shop and celebrate the season:

Holiday Cooking Tips from Gwinnett Fire

As family and friends make preparations for the busy Thanksgiving holiday, firefighters are reminding all chefs and would-be chefs to be safe when cooking. Unsafe cooking practices are the leading cause of residential fires, officials said. Here are some tips offered by Fire and Emergency Services and the National Fire Protection Association: VERY IMPORTANT: If you plan to deep-fry your holiday turkey, chicken, duck, or anything else, remember to follow proper fire safety precautions. read all instructions for your fryer and completely thaw your meat before frying it.
