Couples Tie the Knot at Historic Courthouse on Valentine's Day

Gwinnett County offered free weddings and vow renewals in Lawrenceville, Ga. on the holiday celebrating love.

While some couples exchanged gifts on Valentine’s Day, others exchanged vows. Brides and grooms came to the Historic Courthouse in downtown Lawrenceville Thursday to celebrate their love with their families and friends. The free February 14th weddings are now an annual tradition in Gwinnett County. Lionel George and his wife-to-be Caitlyne Tucker of Lawrenceville are full of nervous excitement. The young couple passes the time in the decorated lobby by playing a game together on their Nintendo DS.  Caitlyne is wearing a strapless, tea-length dress in white lace. Doll and Me Tea

The Gwinnett Historic Courthouse in Downtown Lawrenceville, Ga. hosted the tea for little girls and their friends.

Moms, grandmothers and little girls enjoyed afternoon tea in the Superior Court Ballroom at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse. The room was brimming with bonnets and bows. Twenty three dolls joined the fun too, some dressed like their owners. A dress up chest with hats, gloves and tutus was available for ‘Dress Me Up’ fun. Guests of the tea enjoyed petit sandwiches, cucumber and cream cheese on toast, biscuits with jam and Devonshire cream, cheese and fruit and muffins. Tea service included blueberry and peach teas sweetened with honey. Guests also enjoyed games such as Bejewel Mom and Set the Table. Each little girl took home a homemade paper doll and dresses they designed themselves.   The event, put on by the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse…

Irish for a Day

Food, festivities, families and fun flooded the grounds of the Historic Courthouse for the Spring Green Festival.

  New Lawrenceville hosted their 2nd Annual Spring Green Festival on St. Patrick's Day Saturday. An estimated 8,000 people came out to the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse for Gwinnett County's largest St. Paddy's Day celebration. The day began with a 5K and ended with a concert on the Square.  Proceeds from the event benefited the Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett, the Lawrenceville Police Benevolent Association and the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation. Gwinnett's Ready to Light Up the Holidays

Gwinnett has announced its lineup for the 24th annual lighting of the county tree in Lawrenceville.

After Thanksgiving dinner is over, Gwinnett County invites everyone to come out and watch the lighting of the county's holiday tree. The festivities start Thursday, Nov. 24, at 5 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse in Downtown Lawrenceville.  The evening will include music from the Class Act Band, The John King Band and Lawrenceville's own Catherine Kimbro. There will also be free face painting and arts and crafts for the kids.  Fox 5 Atlanta reporter Randy Travis will once again serve as the event's emcee. The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m., and Santa Claus will arrive around 6:45 p.m. During the celebration, Gwinnettians will also get the chance to make the holidays better for others. Rock'n Rib Fest Draws Big Crowd

4th annual festival provides finger-licking fun and a surprise flash mob by GGC students.

Thousands flocked to historic downtown Lawrenceville Saturday for good food, music and fun. The fourth annual Rock'n Rib Fest was held on the square. It featured something for everyone. Two stages provided live music from up-and-coming local talent as well as guest bands like "Red Zepplin", a Led Zeppelin tribute band. A family friendly zone provided fun for the kids, including a bouncy castles, crafts and face painting. The event began with the third annual Rock'n Rib Run for Breast Cancer 5K, presented by Tutus for Tatas. Last year the run raised about $6,000.
