The Sugarloaf Parkway extension at State Route 316 is scheduled to open Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 11, after a ribbon-cutting ceremony. According to a Gwinnett County press release, the ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. and feature several county and state officials. Here's the county's description of the project: This section of the project extends Sugarloaf Parkway over SR 316 in Dacula and includes the bridge overpass and entrance and exit ramps, enhancing east-west connectivity across Gwinnett and completing the 6-mile extension from SR 20 south of Lawrenceville to SR 316 in the Dacula area. The 2009 SPLOST sales tax program primarily funded the $15 million project to construct the ramps and section of Sugarloaf Parkway from Campbell …

Starting Monday, July 9th, there may be more traffic delays on SR 316, even in the middle of the night. There will be lane closures and a portion of Hosea Road will be closed to through traffic overnight as the Georgia Department of Transportation continues construction on SR 316. They are turning the traffic light at the intersections of Collins Hill Road and SR 20 with SR 316 into one interchange with exit ramps. Only business access traffic will be allowed on Hosea Road starting at Hurricane Shoals Road. There will be a detour denoted by signs routing traffic onto SR 316 and back to Hurricane Shoals Road then to Hosea Road. GDOT expect this detour to be in place for about eight months. The new lane opened to traffic in Gwinnett County Friday afternoon.
The new lane on State Route 316 eastbound officially opened Friday in time for rush hour. The third lane extends from the split from I-85 end becomes the ramp for the Sugarloaf exit on 316. "Afternoon commutes are a lot smoother because of this project," said Gwinnett County District 3 Commissioner Mike Beaudreau. "If you were to take a picture of the road down here where the actual lane was constructed all the way to Sugarloaf, a few months ago you would have seen a huge bottleneck. It would back up for an eighth to a quarter of a mile, and now there are virtually no merging issues. It's been a huge enhancement." Good news for Gwinnett drivers! The lane is scheduled to open in time for your evening commute.
After nearly six months of construction and slow-downs, a new lane on State Route 316 will open Friday afternoon, just in time for the evening rush hour. The new lane on SR 316 eastbound runs from the I-85 split to Sugarloaf Parkway. Gwinnett County will hold an official ribbon cutting ceremony Friday at 4pm at Gwinnett Tech overlooking SR 316.
