UPDATE: GCPS Resource Officer Injured by Vehicle on Wednesday

The incident happened at Lanier High in Sugar Hill. Gwinnett Police are investigating.

The injured GCPS officer has been identified as Ronaldo Jiminez. Gwinnett Police plan an update later. --- A Gwinnett County Schools police resource officer was struck and injured by a vehicle about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday (February 13) near Lanier High in Sugar Hill, Gwinnett Police said. The GCPS officer "suffered serious injuries" from the accident, which happened while he was directing traffic at the school, which is located on Buford Highway near Suwanee, police said. The GCPS officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Charges are pending for the driver of the vehicle that struck the officer, police said. -- Patch will have updates on this situation.

Burglars Take $4,500 in Cash and More From Home in Lawrenceville

The victim said he paid three young men from the area to help him move in the day before the burglary.

A man who had just moved into a home in the 1200 block of Spring Branch Court told police it was burglarized overnight in late September. The homeowner told officers he left the house about 10 p.m. Sept. 29, and when he returned about 12 hours later he found the back door unsecured with two large flat screen televisions and a home stereo moved to the back door. Missing items included a safe containing $4,500 in cash, passports, birth certificates, miscellaneous paperwork, jewelry, a Dell desk top, two HP laptops, one Toshiba laptop, two Blu-ray players and a stereo. Man High on Bath Salts Threatens to Eat Other People

The suspect, who was at a Norcross-area golf driving range, also was tasered 14 times.

A June 14th incident at the Atlanta Golf Center on Beaver Ruin Road, filmed by Gwinnett County Police, shows suspect Karl Laventure of Alpharetta high on what is suspected to be bath salts, with superhuman strength. According to WSB-TV, Laventure was waving a golf club and threatening to eat people. Officer Ross Hancock, who was first on the scene, said Laventure "came running at us out of the woodline" when they arrived. He added that Laventure, who admitted to being high on bath salts, was running all around the range, through a nearby pond, half-naked, out of his mind and threatened to eat their faces.  Officers deployed pepper spray, but Hancock said he didn't even wipe his eyes. Lawrenceville Pizza Hut Robbed at Gunpoint

Victim reported the suspect fled with $2,500 in cash.

Gwinnett Police responded to an armed robbery at the Pizza Hut at 1475 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville on Feb. 20. According to a police report, a restaurant employee reported hearing the delivery front door open and thought a co-worker was entering the store. The employee walked to the front of the store, where he was approached by a masked individual brandishing a handgun. The Pizza Hut employee told police the assailant pushed him toward the safe located under the front counter and demanded all the money from the safe and registers. The assailant then fled through the back door with about $2,500 in red plastic envelopes. The employee ran out the front door and called police from a nearby Kroger in the business plaza. Gwinnett Police Warn of Rising Home Burglary Scams

Two incidents occurred in unincorporated Lilburn.

  Gwinnett police are warning about a growing number of home burglary scams in which the suspects either act like they know the victims or pretend that they are at the residence to work. Two such cases were reported recently in Lilburn, Cpl. Jake Smith said in an email. In both, the suspects used the same mode of operation, pretending they were there to work. "In each case a Hispanic male lured the victim to the back of the home to inspect the property line," according to the email. "The suspect spoke on a walkie-talkie in Spanish to an unknown person while with the victims. The victims later reported that they were missing jewelry and cash." Charges Filed in Accident that Killed 2 Teens From Grayson

Gwinnett Police have filed charges of DUI against the Loganville man who was the driver of the other vehicle, but he has not been charged with vehicular homicide since the DUI was not related to the cause of the accident.

Charges have been filed against people in two of three vehicles involved in a wreck Saturday that killed two teens from Grayson.  According to a press release from Gwinnett County Police, the accident is still under investigation, but so far charges have been filed against the drivers of two of the vehicles involved, although not related to the accident. The driver of the car that was hit head-on by the vehicle the Grayson teens were traveling in was later arrested and charged with DUI, but police report that did not contribute to the collision. Updated: Another Waffle House Robbed

Another hit in string of early morning armed robberies.

Updated 3:48 p.m.  One more day, one more Waffle House robbed. Waffle House #307 at 1945 Rockbridge Road in Stone Mountain was robbed early this morning, according to police. It is unknown if this robbery is connected with the others that have occurred in the Atlanta area, including in the City of Norcross. Norcross Police say that 18 robberies have occurred since July 27 that could be linked to the same two men. The hold-ups cover 12 different police jurisdictions, including six metro Atlanta counties, La Grange, Ga. and Auburn, Ala.  The agencies are working closely together, with the Norcross Police Department serving as a central agency for compiling data, according to Sgt. Gwinnett Police Officers, Bystanders Fired Upon

Officers were investigating disturbance call at QT when shots flew around them, several bystanders.

Gwinnett Police arrested and charged a man with aggravated assault in connection with a May 24 incident at the QuikTrip located at 3844 Satellite Boulevard in unincorporated Duluth in which three officers and five bystanders were fired upon. Officers responded to a disturbance call at the QuikTrip about 11:40 p.m., according to Gwinnett Police Cpl. Jake Smith. They were investigating the disturbance when seven shots rang out and bullets flew around the officers and several bystanders. No one was injured, Smith said. Several other officers responded to the area in an attempt to locate the shooter, but no suspects were located at that time, Smith reported. Gwinnett Police Seek Transvestite Purse Snatcher

Suspect wanted on charges of robbery and possession of cocaine.

Gwinnett County Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Hispanic transvestite male suspected of robbing a woman outside the Singleton Road Kroger in Norcross on Dec. 20. Police say Serafin Gutierrez-Carvajal, a 33-year-old Hispanic male, grabbed the victim’s purse and fled on foot. The victim recognized the suspect as a neighbor who she knew as “Sarah.” After determining the suspect’s actual identity, detectives executed a search warrant at Gutierrez-Carvajal’s residence. According to authorities, officers located several small bags of cocaine inside the home. Two of the suspect’s roommates, Francisco Javier Velasco-Bautista and Claudia Gomez-Perez, were arrested for possession of cocaine. Gutierrez-Carvajal was not at the …
