Gwinnett Medical Center Buys Vacant Duluth Center

The 72,000 square-foot shopping center across from Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth will be used for future expansion.

The vacant shopping center on Howell Ferry Road across from Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth has been bought for hospital expansion. The purchase by Gwinnett Medical Center of the 72,000-square-foot center, known as the Ingles shopping plaza, occurred after several years of discussion. The official name of the center is At Howell Station. “Through this acquisition, we’ll have an additional 10 acres of land and 72,000 square feet of building space, which can be developed to support our strategic long-term growth,” said GMC Executive Vice President and COO Thomas Shepherd.  “Soon, we’ll evaluate existing needs and anticipated future growth to specify how this property can best serve the community,” Shepherd said. “This acquisition was …

Gwinnett Med Welcomes 100,000th Baby

Brian and Kimberly Baker of Lawrenceville, Ga's third child is the 100,000th baby to be born at the hospital. Watch the video of the proud parents and see pictures of the baby girl with her big brother and sister.

The birth of all their children was a special occasion for Brian and Kimberly Baker of Lawrenceville. But the arrival of their third child, a little girl named Lucy, was an extra special event for the place where she was born. At 10:02am on Thursday, August 9th, Lucy became the 100,000th baby to be born at Gwinnett Medical Center. Big sister Sara, 4 and older brother John, 2, are also among all those children born at GMC since their Women’s Pavilion first opened their doors in April 1991. “After researching hospitals prior to the birth of our first child, we landed at GMC,” said proud dad Brian. “While Lucy was the 100,000th baby delivered here, the exceptional treatment we received previously was no different.” Lucy was born by C-section…

Meet Lucy, Gwinnett Medical Center's 100,000th baby!

Little Lucy Baker came into the world Thursday to a big celebration. Not just because she is the third child of proud parents Brian and Kimberly's. But also because Lucy was the 100,000th baby born at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Ga.  Lucy was born at 10:02am Thursday, weighing in a 7 pounds and 8 ounces. Patch will have more on this story (including more cute baby photos and videos) later.
