You can bring your dog to the Gwinnett Braves' game. Atlanta's Freeman will finish a rehab stint.
Freddie Freeman, the regular Atlanta Braves first baseman, is making the most of his injury rehab stint with the Gwinnett Braves. Freeman went 5-for-5 Saturday (April 20) with two RBI as Gwinnett (8-9 in 2013) topped Charlotte, 6-0, in Fort Mill, S.C. Freeman will play the final game of his rehab stint Sunday when the same teams head for Coolray Field for a 2:05 p.m. game. Also Sunday, it will be "Bark In The Park" Day at Coolray. Fans can bring their dogs to the park to spend the afternoon with the G-Braves. And typically for Sunday home games at Coolray, there will be pregame catch in the outfield and postgame baserunning for children 12-under. For more information, visit the G-Braves website.

The G-Braves defeat Charlotte on Friday in 2013 opener. A twin bill is scheduled for Saturday.
Delaying their 2013 opener by one day did not hurt the Gwinnett Braves' performance. The team cruised past Charlotte, 5-4, on Friday (April 5) at Coolray Field. The scheduled season opener Thursday evening was postponed due to rain and chilly temps. Shortstop Tyler Pastornicky, who has some experience with the Atlanta Braves, went 4-for-4 with an RBI. Pitcher Sean Gilmartin went five innings, allowing one run on six hits. Saturday, the same teams will play a double-header beginning at 5:05 p.m. at Coolray. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Brandon Beachy Bobblehead figure. The Gwinnett Braves' groundhog mascot hopes skies will clear up for the season opener at Coolray Field Thursday.
During last week's cold spell, the Gwinnett Braves' mascot, Chopper, issued a weather guarantee that temperatures on Opening Day would be warm and springlike. The groundhog has updated his forecast and now is calling for rain Thursday, but hopes skies will clear before the 7:05pm first pitch against the Charlotte Knights. According to the Gwinnett Braves' website, if it does rain Thursday but stops before the scheduled game time, the game will go on as planned. If it continues to rain past the start time, there will be a rain delay. Ticket holders will not be left high and dry no matter the weather. Check out the team's Rainout Ticket Policy for more details.

Chopper takes a cue from his weather forecasting cousin and predicts good weather on game day.
Chopper, the Gwinnett Braves' costumed mascot, may be trying to make Opening Day his personal Groundhog Day. With all the unseasonably cool spring weather in 2013, Chopper has made a promise to fans. If the temperature dips below 50 degrees on April 4 (before the third inning), free ticket vouchers will be distributed to fans in attendance at Coolray Field. The vouchers will be good for another 2013 home game. The G-Braves will open their fifth season at Coolray Field on April 4, vs. the Charlotte Knights. “Opening Day will be the real start of spring weather. It will be warm and sunny and temperatures will not dip below 50 degrees,” Chopper said in a Gwinnett Braves statement. The mascot claims to be a "distant cousin" of Gen. Beau Lee, …
