Gas prices have been rising rapidly, hitting a national average of $3.76 a gallon, according to Wednesday AAA data. The cheapest gas prices reported in Lawrenceville are hovering about a dime below that mark, GasBuddy.com says. The national average price is up nearly 20 cents from about a week ago, when the Christian Science Monitor reported that a combination of factors were driving up prices. High crude prices, financial speculation and seasonal refinery maintenance were blamed for the increase. There's no reason to expect prices to drop anytime soon, the Monitor reports.
