The school will draw from the Berkmar and Central Gwinnett Clusters to help relieve the overcrowded high schools. A new elementary school and a new middle school were also approved.
In March, Gwinnett County School Board approved construction for a new high school in Lawrenceville. The high school will be located at 1335 Old Norcross Rd, right next to Benefield Elementary School. A red sign in front of the building reads “Bridgestone Center,” the name given to it by its’ previous life as a storage facility for Bridgestone Tires. However, the name will most likely change before classes start in 2015. “We will obviously make modifications for the facility to serve as a school,” said Jorge Quintana of Gwinnett County Public Schools. “This is something we've done before at Radloff Middle, Phoenix High, and most recently Lanier High.” The new high school will relieve the overcrowded campuses of Central Gwinnett High …

Gwinnett County Board of Education appointed Phyllis Dartt as Principal of Cedar Hill Elementary School in Lawrenceville. Dartt will take over for current Principal Dr. Susan Bearse who is being transferred to Berkeley Lake Elementary School. The principal there is retiring. Right now, Dartt is an Assistant Principal at Cooper Elementary School in Loganville. She also served as an Assistant Principal at Partee Elementary from 2004 to 2007 and at Sweetwater Middle School from 1998 to 2004. Dartt also taught mathematics, science and social studies at Sweetwater. Dratt holds a Bachelor's degree from Georgia State University and a Master's from the University of Georgia. She will assume her new position on June 1st.

They included the following explanation of the set up in their cafeteria: "A theme of “Welcome to Candy Land” greets parents, grandparents, and other family members as Jackson Elementary hosts its holiday luncheon for students and their families on November 30-December 2.
