The tree limb reportedly broke in Lawrenceville during Monday's strong rain. The driver of a Lawrenceville city truck was in critical condition.
Update, 3:05 p.m.: One of the vehicles involved in the accident is a City of Lawrenceville truck. The driver is listed in critical condition, officials said. The driver of a second pickup was also taken to a hospital. At about 1:45pm, Lawrenceville Police report a tree limb has fallen onto the road and caused a three vehicle accident. According to LPD's Capt. Gregory Vaughn, the limb fell on Stone Mountain Street near Constitution Ave and hit at least one of the cars. Two people were seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Vaughn says Monday afternoon's heavy rainstorm may have played a factor in the accident. The section of Stone Mountain Street is closed during this accident investigation. Gwinnett County police report that a 50-year-old Loganville man was involved in the wreck on S.R. 20 in Grayson that sent both drivers to the hospital. "At about 5:00 a.m., Ofc. H. McCall was involved in a head-on collision at the intersection of Grayson Pkwy (S.R. 20) and Brackin Trace," said Cpl. Jake Smith, spokesperson for GCPD in a relase. Three people have been hospitalized after a Friday night crash near the intersection of Highway 316 and Winder Highway -- an accident which police say was caused by a wrong way driver. According to an emailed statement from Gwinnett County Police, the head on collision occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. The wrong way driver is believed to have been driving under the influence. Several calls were placed to the 911 center reporting a wrong way driver in the minutes immediately preceding the crash, police added. Several people were trapped and had to be extricated by Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services personnel. Three patients were transported to area hospitals. A truck reportedly rolled into a Lawrenceville home Wednesday afternoon. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services found a work truck had struck a home on the 1200 block of Lochshyre Way shortly before 2:30pm. Crews say the truck rolled off the roadway and crashed into the side of the garage, causing minor structural damage. Initial reports say the truck belonged to someone doing work at a home across the street when it rolled away unattended. No one was hurt.
