Cruse Road to Close Starting May 27

On Monday, a section of Cruse Road will be closed for construction. Detours will be in place.

A section of Cruse Road will be shut down to thru traffic starting Monday, May 27 to repair the shoulder which was damaged by flooding. Crews will also increase the size of the current culvert to minimize future flooding and damage.  Drivers are being asked to use Cruse Road to Club Drive to Pleasant Hill Road back to Cruse Road and the reverse as a detour. Local traffic from James Road will be allowed to turn left on to Cruse to get to Pleasant Hill. Those driving to Lealand Place Lane will be able to access the road from Cruse. Lealand Place Lane is just east of the closure. The road is scheduled to re-open on Friday, June 14. Pleasant Hill Bridge to Close in June, Detours Announced

The bridge will be closed June 7-10 as workers complete work on the diverging diamond interchange.

Expect some traffic snarls around the Pleasant Hill Road overpass at Interstate 85 as workers complete work of the diverging diamond interchange in early June. Drivers will face detours on both sides of the bridge. The bridge is scheduled to be closed to all traffic from 9 p.m. Friday, June 7, until 5 a.m. Monday, June 10, according to the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation. Detour info from the Gwinnett DOT: During the weekend of construction, drivers and pedestrians should take Pleasant Hill Road to Satellite Boulevard to Steve Reynolds Boulevard to Shackleford Road to Pleasant Hill Road and the reverse as their detour. Work on Simonton Road to Begin and Other Gwinnett Construction

The following is the weekly Gwinnett County road closure report from the Gwinnett DOT (for May 11-17). The Gwinnett Department of Transportation says work associated with the construction of Pleasant Hill Road's diverging diamon interchange will require nightly lane closures. The lane closures should occur for three weeks, starting Sunday, May 12. Closures are expected between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. One other construction project was added to this week's list of lane closures: Lawrenceville Two others were removed: Buford: Camp Branch Road from Kilgore Road to Wallace Road, which saw culvert improvements. Lilburn: Baltimore Avenue from Village Creek Drive intersection, which had drainage improvements.

Safety Improvements OK'd for Sweetwater MS, 2 Lawrenceville Roadways

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved the work at the school, Hurricane Shoals Road and Old Peachtree Road Tuesday.

Improvements to make the grounds at Sweetwater Middle School in Lawrenceville, Ga. were approved by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Tuesday. The drive at the middle school located on Cruse Road will be upgraded. The upgrade includes making enough room for two bus queues, making student drop-offs safer. The work is expected to be completed before the 2013-14 school year begins. Also approved by the Commissioners improvements at Hurricane Shoals Road between State Route 120/Duluth Highway and Collins Hill Road. The project includes  a new center turn lane, sidewalks on both sides of the road, along with a new curb and gutter. The designs will help to reduce traffic tie-ups and improve safety in the area.
