A small fire broke out at the Boys and Girls Club in Lawrenceville Friday evening. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services were called to the club at 382 Stone Mountain Street. Shortly before 7pm. When crew arrived, they found a dryer fire in a block room of the building. The sprinkler system managed to contain the fire to the one room. No structural damage was reported. One person was evaluated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation. No other injures were reported.

Will donating to charity ever be as popular as shopping during the holiday season? A partnership of nonprofits hopes so. For many people, the holiday shopping marathon began on Thanksgiving day, with some national chains opening their doors just hours after the traditional turkey dinner. Then comes Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, which has morphed into Cyber Week. Now, there's a new campaign asking you to open your wallet -- Giving Tuesday. The Giving Tuesday website says the effort, coming on the heels of days devoted to consumerism, is designed "to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations." …

Lawrenceville students express themselves through music and art.
The walls of the teen center at the Lawrenceville Boys & Girls Club are covered with colorful artwork. Step inside the workroom and it resembles a gallery, different kinds of paintings and drawings tacked to the walls, pencils and paint brushes strewn about. This is the result of creative minds at work. In the middle of the room sits a small studio, equipped with a microphone, computers and keyboard. Next to that are lights and a green screen. It's not a big space, but it's the home base to some big ideas. On any given day, you can find some students mixing watercolors while others step into the studio and mix original lyrics with beats.
