The birth of all their children was a special occasion for Brian and Kimberly Baker of Lawrenceville. But the arrival of their third child, a little girl named Lucy, was an extra special event for the place where she was born. At 10:02am on Thursday, August 9th, Lucy became the 100,000th baby to be born at Gwinnett Medical Center. Big sister Sara, 4 and older brother John, 2, are also among all those children born at GMC since their Women’s Pavilion first opened their doors in April 1991. “After researching hospitals prior to the birth of our first child, we landed at GMC,” said proud dad Brian. “While Lucy was the 100,000th baby delivered here, the exceptional treatment we received previously was no different.” Lucy was born by C-section…

It's a girl! Gwinnett Medical Center welcomes first baby of 2011.
Layla Joyce Robertson wasn't due for another six days, but she didn't want to wait. The 7-pound, 7-ounce girl was born 30 seconds after midnight, making her the first baby of 2011 born at Gwinnett Medical Center. But little Layla was beat out for the title of first baby of 2011 by just 12 seconds. A baby boy in Guam was born just 18 seconds after the clock struck 12. Layla is the first child for mom Brittany Alicea, 21 and fiancé Sean Robertson, 24. Alicea's water broke at 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning. "I had just gone to the doctor the day before and I was only 1 centimeter dilated", she says," We weren't expecting this at all".
