Lawrenceville Man Charged With Setting Home on Fire After Fight With Wife

Ivan Jaramillo, 42, was admitted into the Gwinnett County Jail around 11 a.m. Wednesday on a first-degree arson charge.

A Lawrenceville man was arrested Wednesday (May 1) for setting his home on fire after a domestic dispute with his wife. Ivan Jaramillo, 42, was booked around 11 a.m. on a first-degree arson charge, according to Gwinnett County jail records. In a news release, Gwinnett Fire spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said fire investigators believe Jaramillo intentionally set fire to the master bedroom on the second floor of his home, located on the 200 block of Galesburg Drive. "Sufficient evidence was found that indicated Jaramillo started the fire, which caused moderate damage to the room of origin and sent smoke throughout the second floor," Rutledge said in the email. Illegal Fireworks Cause Fire at Local Businesses

Two Lawrenceville, Ga. businesses were damaged by fire and smoke.

  Gwinnett County Fire Investigators say illegal fireworks caused damage to two business in Lawrenceville.  Crews were called to World Finance and Las Canas at a shopping plaza at 1956 Duluth Hwy at 4:35am Thursday. When they got there, they found smoke and fire coming from the center of the roof. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire on the roof. The roof over World Finance suffered minor damage. That business also had minor damage inside due to fire and water used as firefighters fought the flames. Las Canas also suffered minor damage and the front glass door was broken as firefighters forced it open. No injuries were reported. Vacant House Fire Ruled Arson

Investigators say Thursday's house fire was intentionally set.

Thursday morning's fire at a vacant home on the 1100 block of New Hope Rd near Sugarloaf Pkwy has been ruled arson. Crews were called to the scene around 6am Thursday. A passerby called 9-1-1 after seeing flames coming from the roof of the single-story wood frame home. The house was fully involved by the time firefighters arrived.  Firefighter investigators say the fire was intentionally set. The home had not been lived in for over three years and there was no power or gas running to the home.  The home's owner says there has been vandalism to the building in the past. Restaurant Fire Ruled Arson

Evidence was found that a fire at the Hall of Fame Restaurant was intentionally set.

Gwinnett County Fire investigators just announced this morning that a fire at the Hall of Fame Restaurant & Banquet Hall has been ruled arson. Investigators say they found evidence that pointed to an intentionally set fire.  At around 1:30am Friday, a Lawrenceville police officer on a routine patrol noticed smoke and flames coming from the Hall of Fame Restaurant and called the Gwinnett Fire Department. The restaurant is located at 335 W. Pike St. When fire crews arrived, they entered the building to find dense smoke and fire inside.  The restaurant was not open at the time and no one was at the business when fire crews arrived. That place has always failed. I've seen so many restaurants open and close at that location it should be called the revolving door cafe..... I'm not surprised someone tried to burn it down (For insurance). Almost wish it would have gone up in flames, it's an eye-sore. Glad no one was hurt. Arson Suspect Still Hospitialized, Formally Charged

Roberto Fernandez-Centena formally charged with arson, cruelty to children and aggravated assault.

Gwinnett County Fire Investigators formally charged Roberto Fernandez-Centena with setting fire to a home on the 1000 block of Daisy Court and trying to harm himself and his daughter. The warrants were served to Fernendez-Centena in his hospital room. "He is in treatment for having been out in the cold temperatures for a few days," Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services Captain Tommy Rutledge said. Police picked up Fernendez-Centena on the porch of a Flagg Way home on Sunday following the Christmas Eve fire. Officials are not releasing his current condition under federal patient privacy laws (HIPAA). Police Capture Man Suspected of Arson, Child Endangerment

Investigators say Roberto Fernandez-Centena is in the hospital after hiding outside for several days.

Gwinnett Police say they captured a man who they say intentionally set fire to a Lawrenceville home with his 6-year-old daughter inside on Christmas Eve. Police picked up 45-year-old Roberto Fernandez-Centena of Lawrenceville Sunday morning on the back porch of a Flagg Way home. Fernandez-Centena is currently hospitalized. "He is in treatment for having been out in the cold temperatures for a few days," Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services Captain Tommy Rutledge said.
