Police, Parents Seeking Answers Following R&B Singer's Death

Singer and actress Natina Reed was killed after being struck by a car in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Ga. late Friday evening.

Gwinnett County Police are looking to speak to anyone who can provide more insight into the accidental death of singer and actress Natina Reed. Reed, 32, was reportedly walking in the road on Lawrenceville Highway late Friday night when she was struck and killed near Hamilton Rd. The driver of the car did stop to call 911 and will not face charges. However, GCPD investigators are still looking for answers. They would like to speak to "anyone who might have information about anything that could help us determine why she was there, anything to help us understand how this came together,” said GCPD spokesman Sgt. R&B Singer Reportedly Struck and Killed on Lawrenceville Hwy.

Investigators are trying to determine exactly what caused the fatal accident Friday night in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Ga.

A driver heading down Lawrenceville Hwy in unincorporated Lawrenceville reportedly struck a woman who was walking in the road. The accident happened Friday at about 10:30pm near Hamilton Road. That woman, identified as Natina Reed, age 32, was given CPR on the scene and taken to Gwinnett Medical Center where she died about a half hour after the accident. According to Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Rich Long, the driver of the red Honda did stop to call 911 for help after hitting Reed. Long says the driver is not at fault and will not face any charges. WSB-TV reports Reed was a member of the R&B group Blaque and was a protegé of TLC's Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. This accident occurred on the same day as a hit-and-run accident in Suwanee.

Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy Wrecks in Walton County, Charged with DUI

The accident happened at Ga Highway 81 and Double Springs Road in Walton County. A Lawrenceville woman was injured in the crash.

Georgia State Patrol reported that a Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy vehicle was involved in a wreck at 1:20 am Wednesday morning on Georgia Highway 81 at Double Springs Road in Walton County. According to the trooper, a Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department vehicle ran off the road, struck an embankment and overturned several times.  In a press release, GSP reported that nobody was around the vehicle when first responders arrived. They later located the driver, a Gwinnett County Sheriff's deputy, at his residence. He had sustained minor injuries. A female passenger was found walking near the crash scene. The driver, Robert Christopher Matt, 27, from Bethlehem, was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident…

New Details in Fatal Tractor Trailer Accident on 316

GCPD confirms the driver from Dacula died in Thursday morning’s accident in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Ga.

Gwinnett County Police say the driver in Thursday morning’s accident on Highway 316 has died. According to GCPD, 68 year old Anvir Karim of Dacula died after his 1997 black Nissan Maxima got wedged beneath a tractor trailer. A preliminary investigation showed that at 6:39am, the tractor trailer was headed eastbound on 316 when it turned left onto Hurricane Trail. Karim was headed westbound and was unable to stop and avoid the crash.  Karim suffered critical injuries and rescue crews had to extricate him from his car. He was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police are continuing to investigate and charges against the truck driver from Columbia S.C. are pending.

Motorist Extricated After Car Goes Under Tractor-Trailer on 316

Accident involving car and tractor-trailer on 316 at Hurricane Trail under investigation.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that a motorist was trapped in a vehicle at the scene of a Thursday morning accident on Highway 316 near Hurricane Trail Road.  The AJC initially reported that at least one person was killed. At approximately 8:15 a.m., @AJC tweeted an update: "Update: Motorist under tractor-trailer still alive. Firefighters trying to cut him out of car." Gwinnett County Police public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith confirmed that information in an email to Lawrenceville Patch. "This accident is not a fatal at this time," Smith wrote. Wrong Way Driver Causes Crash on 316

Several people were trapped in a vehicle and had to be extricated.

Three people have been hospitalized after a Friday night crash near the intersection of Highway 316 and Winder Highway -- an accident which police say was caused by a wrong way driver. According to an emailed statement from Gwinnett County Police, the head on collision occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. The wrong way driver is believed to have been driving under the influence. Several calls were placed to the 911 center reporting a wrong way driver in the minutes immediately preceding the crash, police added. Several people were trapped and had to be extricated by Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services personnel. Three patients were transported to area hospitals. Man Believed Drowned, Teen Injured in Separate Lake Lanier Boating Accidents

A girl is cut by a boat's propeller. In another case, a man is missing after jumping from a sailboat.

A man is still missing and believed drowned after jumping from a sailboat, and a teen girl was cut by a boat propeller in separate Lake Lanier incidents Saturday (Aug. 18). MAN MISSING AFTER JUMPING FROM BOAT: WSB-TV reported that Atlanta resident Jeffrey Nause, 44, jumped from a sailboat into the lake waters about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. He was with a woman and another couple near Lake Lanier Islands. Georgia Department of Natural Resources officials (DNR) officials said they had to suspend the search Saturday due to the high volume of traffic on the lake, and the search was expected to resume Sunday. Car Crashes Through Lawrenceville Home

Two people were injured after the car careened into the house off of Bethesda School Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Ga.

A car crashed into the back of a home on the 400 block of Sugar Gate Court in unincorporated Lawrenceville just before 7am Thursday.  The driver of the car carrying two adults and a child somehow veered off Bethesda School Road, jumped the curb, plowed through bushes and a fence before finally crashing into a home. The car came through the French doors leading to the home's kitchen. The accident caused minor damage to the door jamb on both sides of the doors. People were inside the home at the time, but they were not injured. Two adults in the car were taken to the hospital with back and neck pains. The child went home with relatives. Power was turned off at the home as a precaution. The residents were not displaced.

Kile Glover Funeral Set for Friday

The stepson of singer Usher died from injuries suffered in an accident on Lake Lanier earlier in July.

The funeral for Kile Glover, the Atlanta youth who died from injuries suffered on Lake Lanier in July, will be Friday (July 27), according to media reports. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported that the services for the son of Usher's ex-wife will be Friday at 11am at the Weiuca Road Baptist Church on Peachtree Road in Buckhead. Glover, 11, and a teenage friend were in an inner tube being pulled on a boat when they were hit by a personal watercraft. Glover suffered severe head injuries and was on life support for two weeks. The Georgia DNR has identified Jeffrey S. Hubbard, a family friend, as the driver of the personal watercraft. No charges have been filed in the incident, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the …

Lawrenceville Mother Faces Multiple Charges After Multi-Car Crash on 316

Two of the children injured were reportedly unrestrained. They were taken by helicopter to a hospital in Atlanta.

Lawrenceville Patch has obtained new details regarding Tuesday's three car crash on Highway 316 in the middle of rush hour. In a phone call to Patch, Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Jake Smith, said a minivan with five children slammed into a car stopped in traffic near the Sugarloaf Parkway exit. The car that was hit then crashed into the car in front of it. Smith identified the driver of that minivan as 32 year old Angela Gamboa of Lawrenceville. Police say none of the children in Gamboa's vehicle were properly restrained. Two of them were injured and taken by helicopter to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.  A child in the middle car was taken to a hospital in Atlanta by ambulance.
