Police: Missing Girl Was Not Abducted, Went Voluntarily

Griselda Cibrian, 14, of Glennville, was reported missing Sunday afternoon and was last seen with Raymundo Aranda-Parra, 24, of Norcross.

Norcross Police say Griselda Cibrian, the 14-year-old from Glennville who was reported missing Sunday afternoon and found in Norcross on Monday morning, went voluntarily with 24-year-old Raymundo Aranda-Parra, and it was not an abduction. The investigation so far has indicated that Cibrian and Aranda-Parra have had an online relationship for seven months, Sgt. Bill Grogan of Norcross PD said during a press conference. The Sunday incident was their third time meeting in person. Aranda-Parra picked up Cibrian in Glennville and took her to his residence in the city of Norcoss, according to Grogan. Police did not disclose the exact location because they expect to execute search warrants over the next few hours, but he is renting the home. He …

Lawrenceville Man Arrested in Alleged Abduction Attempt

GCPD said a 40-year-old Lawrenceville, Ga. man was arrested in connection with an alleged abduction attempt at a park in Loganville on Monday evening.

According to Gwinnett County Police, Jean Souffrant, 40, of 1418 Great Shoals Circle in Lawrenceville, was arrested on Sept. 17, 2017 and charged with one count of kidnapping in connection with an attempted child abduction. In a press release, a spokesman for GCPD said officers from the East Precinct responded to a call for a suspicious person at Bay Creek Park in Loganville. "Information given by the caller explained that a black male approximately 5’11”, wearing a white t-shirt, blue shorts, glasses and flip flops was acting strange, approaching children at a football practice and trying to get them to leave with him," Detective J.R. Organization Marks National Missing Children's Day

A Lawrenceville teen is one of an estimated 800,000 reported missing children across the country.

According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), some 800,000 children are reported missing each year. That's more than 2,000 each day. Among those missing is 17 year old Josely Martinez of Lawrenceville. Martinez has been missing for more than three years now. May 25th is National Missing Children's Day, and today the NCMEC is reminding parents what they can do to help keep their children safe. The organization offers safety tips under its' Take 25 campaign and asks parents to take 25 minutes to talk to their children about their safety. “We know teaching children about safety works,” said Ernie Allen, president and CEO of NCMEC in a release. “It is important that parents take the time to talk to their children …
