Mellow Mushroom was started in the early 1970s by three college students - two Georgia Tech roommates and a University of Georgia student - in pursuit of good pizza at a good price. There are now 100 Mellow Mushroom restaurants known for a funky decor and serving up pizza and beer. It also serves calzones, hoagies and salads.
