Is This the Most Disgusting Restaurant in America?

Hold the mayo. And everything else. Please.

A Georgia restaurant has set the standard for disgusting dining on its latest health inspection, with a stomach-churning rating of just 35 out of a possible 100.

Best Wings, on Cruse Road in Lawrenceville, Georgia, voluntarily closed after the damning report, which cited the restaurant management for a wide range of nauseating violations, including:

• storing fully cooked gyro meat and turkey alongside raw chicken and beef
• making taziki sauce out of expired sour cream
• storing chicken, steak and cheese above safe temperatures
• using utensils that were “unclean with film and debris”
• storing 3 day-old  lo mein with no time stamp
• keeping containers of unlabeled chemicals on the premises

Inspectors also cited the restaurant managers for coughing into their hands then handling food containers, licking gloves in order to provide a sticky surface to help separate plastic bags, and serving expired Mr. Pibb syrup.

According to the April 23rd report from the Georgia Department of Human Resources, the toilet in Best Wings’ women’s bathroom didn’t work, and the restaurant appeared to allow smoking, in violation of clean air laws. The report also noted the restaurant used food coloring and MSG in its recipes.

No one answered calls for comment at Best Wings.

This isn’t Best Wings first run-in with health inspectors.

In 2013, the restaurant – which serves a variety of chicken wing dishes, as well as fries and Philly cheese steaks – received a 39 out of 100 on its inspection. The restaurant was allowed to remain in business by addressing concerns of inspectors. 

The restaurant’s problems have not gone unnoticed by online reviewers. In 2013, one Google reviewer asked “Why is this restaurant still in business?” But online at least, Best Wings customers are generally more favorable to the restaurant than health inspectors, giving the restaurant an average rating of 3.7 out of 5 stars.

“Great service delicious lemon pepper wings,” a poster named Mario Contreras, wrote. “My cousin and I always go to that place.”
