Visit Fort Yargo State Park

From 'Fun at the Fort' to a game of disc golf and putt putt, Fort Yargo State Park in Winder offers visitors lots of summer fun.

Lawrenceville residents can take a short drive to Fort Yargo State Park for some family summer fun. Fort Yargo is located at 210 S. Broad Street in Winder.

Don't miss "Fun at the Fort," a Friday evening event that offers visitors a chance to experience a historic site just inside the park. "Fun at the Fort" features candle dipping and bread baking as well as the opportunity for guests to work a card loom. The cost to attend is $3 plus a $5 parking fee. This special fun takes place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the following Fridays evenings during the summer: June 22, 29, July 13, 20 and 27.

Fort Yargo also offers mountain bikers and hikers 18 miles of trails to explore. Sun bathers and swimmers can enjoy the beach, while fishers can cover the 260-acre lake within the park. There is a wooded disc golf course, mini-golf for a fee and multiple playgrounds on site. Need to get away for more than just an afternoon? Fort Yargo offers a variety of overnight accommodations for those looking for a longer stay.
