Gwinnett County Public Schools is offering a summer registration period for its new online charter school, Gwinnett Online Campus.
According to a press release, this registration period will allow any student who missed the previous registration deadline an opportunity to enroll for the fall.
Beginning this August, the charter school expands its services to include the middle school level. Registration is open to Gwinnett County residents who are entering sixth through 12th grade. This summer registration period closes Thursday, June 21.
In order to register during this extended registration period, students and their parents must come to Gwinnett County Online Campus, located at 2595 Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross. Registration takes place Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Enrolling students do not have to be currently enrolled in a Gwinnett County school but must be a resident of the county school district attendance zone. The online campus offers the courses and the district’s AKS-based curriculum, which includes all state performance standards, found at traditional middle and high schools. Gwinnett online students also must meet all state and local credit and assessment requirements prior to receiving a Gwinnett County Public Schools diploma.
Information about the online charter school and online learning can be found on the school website at gwinnettonlinecampus.com.
The school graduated its first senior class this past May. Rhianna Hearn was named the 2012 valedictorian, according to a press release. Although she was undecided on what college she plans to attend, her tentative school is the University of Georgia with a major in psychology. Her future goals include going to law school and becoming an attorney practicing corporate law.
