Last Minute Labor Day Road Trips

Where can you go to celebrate the end of summer without spending a ton on gas?

Athens – There’s more to do in Athens than just cheer on the Dawgs. Just about 50 minutes away from Lawrenceville, you can easily get there and back on one tank of gas. Check out the or the . Augusta – Home to the Augusta National Golf Club and James Brown, there’s plenty to see and do in Augusta. The drive is about two and half hours from Lawrenceville. Take a one-hour boat tour on the Augusta Canal or tour the childhood home of President Woodrow Wilson. End the day with a walk on the Riverwalk and enjoy the gardens, live music and, of course, views of the river.

Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga is just a two and a half hour drive from Lawrenceville. Start your day early or plan to stay over because your day will be packed. Check out the Chattanooga Zoo or the popular Tennessee Aquarium. Enjoy the great outdoors at Rock City or Ruby Falls

Greenville, SC – Just over two hours away, there’s something for all ages in Greenville. The Children’s Museum of the Upstate is the 10th largest children’s museum in the world. If you like cars, visit the BMW Zentrum where you can see classic cars and learn about the carmaker’s history. The Zentrum is free, but you can also get a tour of the BMW manufacturing plant for a charge.

Helen – Enjoy the great outdoors in Helen. Go for a hike or go rafting on the river. Little girls will love a visit to Babyland General Hospital, the birthplace of the Cabbage Patch Kids in nearby Cleveland. And don’t forget to make a visit to the old German town. Helen is just about an hour and 20 minutes from Lawrenceville.
