18-Year-Old Is Lawrenceville's Fastest in Peachtree Road Race

Eighteen-year-old Nathinael Wondimu was Lawrenceville’s fastest runner in the 2012 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, Atlanta’s popular Fourth of July foot race.

According to unofficial results posted Wednesday afternoon by the Atlanta Track Club, Wondimu finished 95th overall among men with a time of 35 minutes, 1 second.

Kenyan Peter Kirui won the 10-kilometer race through Midtown Atlanta with a time of 27:37. Mamitu Chepkurui of Ethiopia was the women’s overall winner in 32:22.

More than 57,000 runners participated in the annual Fourth of July road race.

Brian T. O’Neal, 42, was 20th among men’s masters runners in a time of 36:29.

Trevor Turner, 18, was 106th overall among men’s runners in a time of 35:26.

Maury Watson, 41, was 31st among women’s masters in a time of 44:52.

Sarah Perry, 19, was 73rd overall among women in a time of 40:54.

Other runners to break 40 minutes: Eric Nawyn, 22, 174th, 36:51; Dale Smith, 23, 177th, 36:53; Nolan Daniels, 16, 211th, 37:28; Scott Watson, 43, 290th, 38:35; Dustin Perdue, 40, 325th, 39:00; Matt Adams, 34, 341st, 39:18.
