Ready Named Gwinnett Braves New Manager

Randy Ready comes to the G-Braves from the Texas Rangers.

The Gwinnett Braves announced Randy Ready accepted the position as the team's manager Monday. He will be the second manager in the team's nearly four year history.

Ready, 52, played 13 seasons in Major League Baseball and three years as an MLB hitting coach. He comes to Coolray Field from the Texas Rangers where spent the last season working as their minor league hitting coordinator. From 2009 to 2011, he served as the hitting coach for the San Diego Padres.

In 2009, Ready served as the manager for the Triple-A Portland team, which was part of the San Diego system.

His career record as a minor league manager is 489-466. In 2002, Ready was named New York-Penn League’s Manager of the Year. He lead San Antonio to a Texas League Championship and was named to the Texas League Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2008, he was named Baseball America’s “Best Manager Prospect."

“I’m very excited to join the Atlanta Braves organization,” said Ready in a press release. “The Braves have been a model of consistency as an organization for a long time. I’m looking forward to the upcoming 2013 season and being a part of the Braves family moving forward.”

Ready replaces Dave Brundage, who accepted a job as the manager of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs earlier this month.

Congratulations Sharon, I applaud your passion for reading. I remember consulting you on oneRead More occasion about reading techniques for my son David, who is now in year 6 at the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, and I used the advise you gave me ; which was to read with him every day, or encourage him to read everyday. He has continued with the habit and is an avid reader today. He has even authored a book which we are in the process of trying to publish. Thankyou. Jane Otieno Nairobi, Kenya.
