Gwinnett County to Recognize 'Support Georgia Tech Basketball Months'

November 2011 through February 2012 to be officially recognized as "Support Georgia Tech Baskeball Months."

Gwinnett County officials plan to officially recognize November 2011 through February 2012 as “Support Georgia Tech Basketball Months.” Georgia Tech recently chose the Arena at the Gwinnett Center as the venue for sixteen upcoming home games beginning during the month of November.

County Commission Chairwomen Charlotte Nash will deliver the official proclamation to Tech Associate Athletic Director Teresa Wenzel and women’s Head Coach MaChelle Joseph at the upcoming County Commission meeting scheduled for Nov. 15. Director of Operations Gene Hill and Stephanie Herbst-Lucke of Sports Marketing, both Tech officials, are expected to attend the meeting as well.

“Gwinnett is a county that is incredibly supportive of sports teams, and we want to welcome Tech to Gwinnett, and let our visitors and residents know that there’s yet another great sports option this winter,” GCVB Deputy Director Lisa Anders stated in a press release from the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Gwinnett Center Director of Marketing Robin Ali added, “With the current NBA lockout, this will be an affordable way for families and sports fans to enjoy big-time basketball.”

Ticket prices are set at $5 for admission to the women’s games and $10 admission to the men’s games. Fans attending the Nov. 22 women’s game and the Nov. 23 men’s game will receive 50 percent off admission by bringing in canned good donations.
