Gwinnett Braves Ready for Home Opener

After going on a seven game road trip, the G-Braves return home to Lawrenceville.

 

One week into the regular season, and fans will finally get a chance to see their hometown team play Thursday evening.

The G-Braves come home to after going 4-3 on a seven game road trip to Durham, N.C. and Norfolk, VA. They will take on the 5-2 Durham Bulls. First pitch is at 7:05pm.

Opening Day festivities include a t-shirt giveaway to the first 2,000 fans who come through the gates. Royal Flush, contestants on America's Best Dance Crew, will perform before the game and throughout the evening. Chi Christine will sing the National Anthem.

The Braves will also pay tribute to Tommie Aaron and retire his No. 23 jersey. Aaron was a player for the Richmond Braves and the team's manager. He was also the younger brother of Atlanta Braves legend Hank Aaron. In 1967, Aaron was named the International League’s Most Valuable Player and lead the R-Braves to the IL Governor’s Cup championship as the manager in 1978. The Richmond Braves relocated to Gwinnett in 2009.
