GGC Sports News: Baseball Coach Needed, New Soccer Coach Named

Georgia Gwinnett College is looking for a new assistant baseball coach, but it has already welcomed a new assistant coach for the women's soccer team.

Georgia Gwinnett College will soon be back in session for the fall. Here's two recent announcements related to the sports department:

Assistant Baseball Coach Position Open:

According to a July 29 posting on the NCAA's job site, there is an assistant baseball coach position open. The person would be responsible for, among other things, working with the head coach, recruiting potential players, organizing pitching practice, and demonstrating sportsmanship.

The assistant coach is required to have at least a bachelor's degree, have general knowledge of the NCAA, proven history of leadership, considerable knowledge of computers, and more.

Salary is based on education and experience.

Decorated Soccer Player Joins GGC Staff:

Sharolta Nonen, a former University of Nebraska All-American, was recently named the new assistant coach of women's soccer at Georgia Gwinnett College.

A native of Vancouver, Canada, Nonen was a member of the 1999 and 2003 Canadian World Cup. She also played professional soccer in Europe, and on the Atlanta Beat team, GGC said in a press release.

While here in Atlanta, Nonen coached the Atlanta Silverbacks women's team, and volunteered in other capacities.

The GGC Grizzlies begin their second season Aug. 25 against Savannah College of Art & Design in Lawrenceville.
