Fore's Passion Has Always Been Baseball

Sophomore hopes to make the diamond his office

Every since Peyton Fore was a toddler and playing T-Ball, he always dreamed of playing baseball. And when he was growing up in the Collins Hill district, Fore thought he would one day be an Eagle. But after his family moved to the "other side" of Highway 20 and Mountain View was built his freshman year, Fore has been a Bear.

Fore played baseball and some basketball in recreational leagues, but his passion and love has always been baseball. His travel ball teams had him playing 30 to 50 games a year and going away to tournaments in Tennessee, South Carolina and all over Georgia. He has played with the same players for most of his life and now that he is on the high school team, he still plays with many of the players he played with in travel ball.

Fore plays second base and started as a freshman at the new school. Now a sophomore Fore is struggling a bit at the plate but has only struck out 6 times in both seasons combined. And none have been swinging. All have been called strikes that Fore felt were out of the zone. He is known to make contact. Although he doesn't hit with power, his swing has been compared to many fine players. Fore is a lefthanded hitter which makes him a tougher out by baseball standards.

"I just love baseball," Fore said. "I've been playing it all my life and hope to continue to play it." Fore, like any other teenager, also loves to play video games and some other sports, but baseball has always been his passion. He even has a batting cage in his front yard. "That has really helped me out," Fore said. "I'll practice before the game and when I am having some problems I'll go out there and practice."

His coach Jason Johnson feels Peyton is a very durable player that can with a little help move on to the next level. "He's a good player and we're lucky to have him," Johnson said. "I can see him playing at the next level."

After hitting close to .300 last year and having an excellent freshman year, he has dipped a bit this season. But to his credit, Fore is still a team leader. "He may still be an underclassman but we're counting on him for leadership and helping us start our program," Johnson said. "Peyton is a great kid and am glad to have him for all four years."
