GMC Offers High School Sports Medicine Symposium

Gwinnett Medical Center, in Lawrenceville, is hosting a High School Sports Medicine Symposium on Saturday, March 10 at the GMC Resource Center.

This event is designed for high school students interested in sports medicine careers and for sharing sports medicine knowledge. Certified physical trainers, physical therapists and physicians will cover entry-level topics to include taping, heat illness, first add, personal protective equipment and splinting. Advanced topics may include rehabilitation skills, injury recognition, injury prevention and basic anatomy.

GMC's program has helped place approximately 30 certified trainers in 14 of Georgia's largest high schools including Mill Creek and Brookwood.

Registration is open through March 9 and the cost to attend is $10 per participant. Fee includes a t-shirt, lunch and manual.
