It's the highest honor for a baseball legend.

On Monday, the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. announced Atlanta Braves' former manager Bobby Cox was chosen for their 2014 class.

Cox managed the Atlanta Braves from 1978 to 1981 before going to the Toronto Blue Jays, and then back to Atlanta again from 1990 until his retirement in 2010. Cox came out of retirement in 2012 to manage the "Future Stars" team in an exhibition game against the Atlanta Braves at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. We've posted video from an interview with Lawrenceville Patch before that game.

During his 29 seasons, Cox lead his teams 15 first place finishes. Between 1991 and 2005, he brought the Braves to 14 straight playoffs. Under Cox, the Braves won five National League pennants and the World Series in 1995.

Joining Cox in the class of 2014 are former Chicago White Sox manager Tony LaRussa and retired New York Yankees manager Joe Torre.

All three received 100% of the votes from the 16-member Expansion Era Committee, which includes another member of the Atlanta Braves family, Hall of Famer Phil Niekro.

Cox, LaRussa and Torre will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. on Sunday, July 27, 2014.

Players selected for the Hall of Fame will be announced on January 8, 2014.
