Preczewski Appointed GGC's Interim President

Dr. Stanley “Stas” Preczewski will fill in after Dr. Daniel Kaufman's tenure as president of the Lawrenceville, Ga. college ends in June.

On Friday, University System of Georgia (USG) Chancellor Hank Huckaby announced Dr. Stanley “Stas” Preczewski will temporarily take on the role of president of Georgia Gwinnett College.

Preczewski is currently the college's vice president for Academic and Student Affairs at the Lawrenceville college. His first day as interim president will be July 1st-- one day after Dr. Daniel Kaufman's last day at GGC. Kaufman announced last week he accepted the job of President and CEO of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

Preczewski has served in his current position since GGC's founding in 2005. He also held the position of interim president of Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, from July 2011 through June 2012.

“The System is full of exceptional leadership and we are fortunate to be able to call on Dr. Preczewski to lend his talents to this expanded role at Georgia Gwinnett College,” said Huckaby in a release. “His presidential experience and his deep knowledge of Georgia Gwinnett make him the right person to serve in this critical interim capacity.”

“Stas Preczewski is a gifted educator who is absolutely committed to the GGC vision and mission,” said Kaufman of his successor in a release. “Under his leadership, GGC will continue to provide the transformational educational opportunities that the residents of our region deserve. He is exactly the right person to lead GGC into its next phase of development.”

Preczewski received his Ph.D. specializing in higher and adult education from the University of Missouri in 1997. He also holds two master's degrees.

“I look forward to working with the USG and the Board of Regents,” said Preczewski in a release. “As we transition our growth model to complement the USG's strategic direction, there is great opportunity to build upon the countless achievements of President Kaufman and consolidate our strengths to leverage further success for our entire community in the years ahead.”

Like Kaufman, Preczewski also has military experience. He served in the Army for 16 years, achieving the rank of colonel.

Preczewski lives in Buford with his wife Jean. The couple has three adult children.
