Olympic Gymnasts Maroney & Horton Visit GGC

Member of the "Fierce Five" Olympic gold medal winning women's gymnastics team McKayla Maroney and two time Olympic medal winning Jonathon Horton talked to student athletes at Georgia Gwinnett College Tuesday.

Members of Georgia Gwinnett College's newly formed teams had the chance to hear from seasoned veterans who have competed at the top level of their sport.

Olympic gymnasts McKayla Maroney and Jonathan Horton spoke to student-athletes at GGC on Tuesday.

At just 16 years old, Maroney was a member of the "Fierce Five" women's team which won a the gold at the London Olympics this past summer. She also won the silver in the vault. Horton is a former USA Gymnastics Athlete of the Year. He also won a silver and a bronze at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

The two shared training tips with the students. They also talked about their Olympic experiences-- from meeting fellow Olympians Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte to the photo Maroney's facial expression on the podium which went viral as "McKayla is not impressed."

Maroney and Horton are on tour with the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions. The show will be at The Arena at Gwinnett Center Saturday, October 27th at 7:30pm. Maroney may not be able to perform as she is recovering from several injuries.
