A Maxwell High School of Technology teacher was named Georgia’s best culinary arts educator by two organizations.

Gwinnett County Public Schools said Debbie Grant was recently selected as Georgia’s ProStart Teacher of the Year by the Hospitality Education Foundation of Georgia, the second time she has won the award (she also won in 2009). The Greater Atlanta Chefs Association also named Grant the top teacher in the state.

Grant has been at Maxwell since 2011, and was the name the school’s teacher of the year in 2012.

More from a press release:

Ms. Grant helped launch the culinary arts program at Maxwell High after a decade of helping Meadowcreek High students place in top spots during national competitions as the school’s home economics teacher. Before teaching at the high school level, she was part of the Brookwood Elementary staff, joining the school district in 1997. She brought several years of experience to GCPS having taught in Missouri, Ohio, and Oregon.
