Lawrenceville Teacher Named Finalist for GCPS Teacher of the Year

Heidi Mikulecky of Richards Middle School in Lawrenceville, Ga. is in the running for Gwinnett County's top teacher.

Gwinnett County Public Schools has whittled their list down to six finalists in their search for the Teacher of the Year.

One of those on the list is Richards Middle School's own Heidi Mikulecky. The 6th grade language arts began her career as an educator at Richards in 2008. She is the daughter of two retired teachers and it was not initially in her plans to follow in her parents' footsteps.

"When I truly considered my strengths, talents and passions, all roads led to teaching," said Mikulecky in a release from GCPS. "Ten years later, I had tears in my eyes when I phoned my parents to tell them that I had been selected as my school’s Teacher of the Year.”
