Due to overwhelming response, the Gwinnett County school district will hold a lottery to fill the incoming freshman class at the Gwinnett in Lawrenceville.
Online registration concluded on Feb. 1, and there were 847 students registered. However, the school can only accept 350 students for 2013-2014.
The lottery will be held Monday, February 11, 2013, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the school district’s Instructional Support Center (ISC), 437 Old Peachtree Rd., NW in Suwanee.
Students who completed the registration process were assigned a lottery number and have been notified by email of their number, as well as the lottery time, date, and location.
Parents and students do not need to attend the lottery. If they are selected, families will be notified the day of the lottery by mail or email. However, the lottery is open to the public.
Although only 350 students will be selected via the lottery as part of the school’s ninth-grade class, but all 847 numbers will be drawn. The remaining numbers will be placed on a waiting list in the order they were pulled.
