Georgia Gwinnett College to Commemorate Sept. 11

The college's Police Honor Guard will hold a flag ceremony open to the public.

The Police Honor Guard will hold a public memorial flag ceremony Sunday at the campus flagpoles to commemorate the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The ceremony is one of several scheduled.

According to a news release from the college, here is the schedule:

  • At 8:44 a.m., the Honor Guard will lower the flags.
  • At 8:46 a.m., an outdoor chime will sound 11 times to mark the time Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
  • GGC President Daniel J. Kaufman will then make brief comments.

β€œThe 10th anniversary of the attacks is an important time to remember those individuals who lost their lives, their families and the first responders who dutifully sacrificed their lives to protect and serve the citizens of this great nation,” Kaufman said in the release.
