GCPS Snow Makeup Days: April 22, May 27

The school system accounts for the last two of the five days lost during January's snow/ice storm.

Gwinnett County Public Schools announced Monday evening that the school year just got one day longer, closing the book on makeup days for .

Friday, April 22-- Good Friday-- and Friday, May 27 will be school days for students. This means that some graduation schedules have been adjusted. The new graduation dates will be announced Tuesday, March 15th. May 27 becomes the last day of school for students.

Makeup days previously announced by the district were Feb. 21, March 14 and May 26.

Jan. 10-14 were the days cancelled because of the inches of snow and ice that shut down virtually all of Gwinnett County and other parts of the Atlanta area.

April 22nd is Good Friday. Not sure if people already had plans for Easter and to go out of town. We'll see tomorrow if the graduation changes will affect people.

I was disappointed that Spring Break was not scheduled at Easter with that in mind GCPS should have taken a day off spring break and left Good Friday alone. This is a holy day, the Lord died for our sins. Christians we need to stand up and let our voice be heard. I don't recall MLK day being used for a snow make up day.
