Smoke set off fire alarms at McKendree Elementary School Tuesday before classes started.

At about 6:30am, Gwinnett County firefighters received a call from the school on Riverside Parkway. Crews did not find any fire or smoke when they arrived to the school.

After investigating, firefighters discovered an HVAC system on the roof shorted out and sent light smoke through a hallway, triggering the alarm.

A few ceiling tiles got wet and fell to the floor because of condensation from the HVAC unit.

There is no structural damage to McKendree Elementary and no injuries were reported.
