BlueWave Computing CEO Steven Vicinanza Gives Talk On Artificial Intelligence

Dr. Steven Vicinanza, CEO and Founder of BlueWave Computing, LLC, Atlanta’s leader in business IT support and managed services, will give a presentation on the Past, Present and Future of Artificial Intelligence on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville on behalf of the Gwinnett Technology Forum. Dr. Vicinanza received his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University where his research included applications of artificial intelligence in software engineering economics.

“Four decades ago, the popular vision of artificial intelligence included servant robots like Rosie from the popular cartoon, The Jetsons and self-aware computers like HAL from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Yet here we are in 2012 and that promise remains largely unfulfilled,” Dr. Vicinanza said.  “We are still a long way off from developing machines that can learn. The challenge is the computer is not a brain; we still have to program everything as the machine can’t acquire information on its own.”

The presentation at the Gwinnett Technology Forum will look at how far we’ve actually come and what we can expect in the future.
