Find out what's happening in Lawrencevillewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership to be conferred.

• Occupation:

I am a small business owner; specifically an event planner & consultant.

• Political Experience:

I continue to work as a community organizer. I am involved in Lawrenceville politically and especially within the community. Most recently I successfully negotiated and won the bid to bring Falcons player Roddy White’s Keeping the Faith Foundation, GC-United Political Action Committee, Parent Leadership Institute, Giovanni Rolling Café, and American Federation for Children into the City of Lawrenceville to giveaway Back to School Supplies to more than 400 local families and children hosted at the local Boys and Girls Club. The fact is I stand for family, jobs, education, small business, and solutions every day. My goal is to bridge the gap between the people and the government. I think the best place I can help everyday people like you and I is by being in public service as your city councilwoman.

• Family:

I am a proud mother of a son named Kaleb. He is 15 years old.

• What is your political philosophy and how will it drive your role in office?

My political philosophy is citizen collaboration. I will support and advocate for the will of the people and not special interest. Lawrenceville is a diverse community and having representation that is reflective of our community is important. I believe that council operates to benefit citizens and businesses. We cannot forget that businesses need citizens to thrive and vice versa. Council must represent both interests and not just one. We are a community and I want Lawrenceville to remain that way.

• Name your top goal or issue you want to tackle:

The top goal or issue is I want to create solutions for the people and by the people. I will strive to ensure that we provide venues for the people of Lawrenceville to have their voices heard and be more actively engaged in forming jobs, education, small business support, and family oriented solutions for the Lawrenceville community. Jobs can be created through education; training and partnerships that help people obtain the skills needed to excel in the industry of her/his choice. While the Council does not have control over the school system, we can support our students and educators can happen by finding ways to improve all the schools with adequate resources for the children and educators in the City limits of Lawrenceville. Small business initiatives can promote the consumer experience while offering attractive incentives. Small business training classes can also assist entrepreneurs with contract negotiations, healthy financial goal models, and budgeting practices. Jobs, Education, Small Business, Seniors, Youth, and Family are priorities that will be addressed in order to move the City of Lawrenceville forward with continuity.

• What sets you apart from your competitors?

The qualities, assets, and benefits that set me apart from my competitor are reflected in my knowledge of the issues, experience and the fact I am a solutions person; which is why I am highly qualified and capable to serve. I bring an energetic approach, innovative ideas, and vibrant solutions that are based in real facts relevant to today. My business and professional experience gained while working for a private investment firm and family owned small business taught me smart budgeting practices necessary for organizations and companies to thrive in tough economic times. I embrace all constituents from any socioeconomic and cultural background; which provides me with the ability of listening to and learning from diverse communities. Unlike my competitors I am always available to residents; I can be reached at 678-506-0771 or via email renita@voterenitahamilton.org, www.facebook.com/voterenitahamilton, and on twitter @teamrenita. My ability to relate to local residents while working to keep our tax base low, stimulate entrepreneurship, and provide solutions to all families within Lawrenceville. With my level of energy, including my ability to make tough decisions I will serve honorably for many years to come.
