Cocktails and Cameras | Atlanta Photography Group for Women

Cocktails and Cameras: a community of professional female photographers in the metro Atlanta area.

A few months ago I joined a group called Cocktails and Cameras. Our mission statement is as follows: "Cocktails & Cameras is a member-based association representing and promoting the community of professional female photographers in the metro Atlanta area. Our mission is to create a community of creative women who support one another in business and in life."

I'm was more than excited when I was invited to join this group. It breaks barriers and shows that photographers can be friends and not just competetition. Many of us are in diffferent fields of photography and it's nice to learn from the other ladies. From wedding photographers to food photographers and everything in bewteen.

We get together every 2nd Wednesday of each month and talk not only about photography, but all the other great things going on in our lives. We just have a good time in general. I love it because every time that I have attended, I’ve met quite a few new faces and kept in touch with many of them. It’s a great way to not only network….but bond with ladies who share a common interest and understand how crazy life can be when running a photography business.

April’s particular meeting was a fun one. This particular meet up we decided to do a Head-shot Exchange. We spend so much time behind that camera….that we are never in FRONT of the camera. It was a great experience, because I got to see what things are like when my clients are being photographed. I’m pretty good at directing subject, but not good at all at directing myself! AWK-WARD! Probably one of the most uncomfortable things I have ever done! LOL. I didn’t do too bad though!

I’m so looking forward to meetings in the future! This group is the start of something great! I will keep you guys posted on how our ffuture meetings go.
