POLL: Would You Like Your Packages Delivered by a Drone?

Both UPS and Amazon are experimenting with unmanned aircraft for delivery.

Amazon generated considerable buzz earlier this week when the online retailer unveiled Amazon Prime Air -- a delivery service that will utilize automated drones.

In an interview with CBS' "60 Minutes," Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos claimed the drone delivery services could be available in 4-5 years. Not to be outdone, UPS followed the Amazon announcement with one of their own -- they too are working on a delivery drone service.

Representatives of both companies say the drones could significantly cut delivery costs.

While some form of drone delivery may be feasible from a technological standpoint, both companies face regulatory hurdles before such a service could be implemented.

"The hardest challenge in making this happen is demonstrating to the standards of the FAA that this is a safe thing to do. This is years of additional work at this point," Bezos told ABC News.

Do you believe we are within five years of having packages delivered to homes or distribution centers by drone? Would you like to receive packages at your doorstep via drone?
