POLL: Should 'Duck Dynasty' Star Have Been Suspended?

The A&E network suspended family patriarch Phil Robertson over remarks made in an interview with GQ magazine.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.” - Phil Robertson, as quoted in GQ Magazine.

Many fans of Robertson's "Duck Dynasty" A&E television show think it's not logical the network has suspended the family patriarch indefinitely over the remarks made in the GQ interview and are labeling the incident an attack on constitutionally protected freedoms of religion and speech.

In a statement released Wednesday, A&E denounced Robertson's remarks saying, "His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community."

On Dec. 19, the family released a statement supporting Robertson which read in part, "We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm."

Fans of the show have also rallied around the star. The "Stand with Phil Robertson" Facebook page now has more than 1.2 million fans and, according to a recent post, a petition to be delivered to A&E on Monday currently has over 200,000 signatures.

"Duck Dynasty" is A&E's most popular show with an audience of 14 million viewers.
