Indicted Sen. Balfour Released from Fulton County Jail

The Georgia State Senator posted a $5,000 bond after he was indicted on 18 charges.

Indicted Georgia State Senator Don Balfour was booked into the Fulton County Jail Tuesday. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the senator from Snellville was released Wednesday after posting a $5,000 bond.

According to the Fulton County Jail website, Balfour was booked on 15 charges of submitting false expense voucher by member of the General Assembly, theft by taking, false statements and writings, and making a false certificate.

Attorney General Sam Olens released the indictment on Friday

Balfour represents parts of Dacula, Grayson, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Loganville and Snellville.

On Tuesday, Lawrenceville councilman P.K. Martin announced his intentions to run for Balfour's seat, although Balfour's fate at the Capitol has not yet been determined.
